Day 3 Wow...

It is day 3 here at UCYC! I can say first hand that the counselors are starting to feel their age :) We have had much sun and many hikes, many swims and tons of fun today. The kids learned a little bit more today about who Jesus is and who he wants us to be. We all learned that we needed to serve others. Many groups gave up one of their rotations to serve others here at UCYC. Some of them cleaned the dining room after the teenagers got done, some of the boys groups went around cleaning up the girls dishes, some groups cleaned up the field and others picked up trash. It was awesome to see our kids serve each other and the counselors! In our small groups today some true servants showed themselves. I have to say that we as counselors are so proud of our kids! They did an awesome job being leaders here at UCYC! Please talk to them when they get home. Continue talking about Jesus and who is and what he means to you. Get out there and serve others with your kids..they are amazing and they will all shock you if you give them the opportunity.

Dakoda try two...this time Dakoda went up with a UCYC counselor. He was thrilled he climbed the wall the first time but he really really really wanted to ring the bell so a counselor went up with him and helped him ring the bell! AWESOME! Dakoda is for sure a rock star at camp this week! The kids love spending time with him!

Day 2 at UCYC has been filled with excitement. We are enjoying our time so much with the kids! There are color competitions here this year so be sure to ask your kids what color group they were in. Currently the yellow team is in first place!!! Woohoo...that also happens to be my teams color :) As the days go on we are continuing to learn about Jesus and they type of man he was. The children are digging deep today and learning what it means to be an "insider" or popular crowd...or the "outsider" maybe the one that was left out. Jesus spent most of his time with the outsiders and that is where we need to be as well.

I just want to remind everyone to email your children. They love getting mail from you! Just remember they can't write back. Email them at www.ucyc.com go to the blue box and click email camper. Be sure to put into the subject line their name and Parkway. Do that instead of leaving comments to the children here as they don't have access to computers or electronics up here. I am sure though they will love to see the pictures when they get home.

Hello from UCYC Day 1

Hello Parents, Grandparents, Friends...

We have successfully spent the last 24 hours with your children!! We have had quite a blast! It has been so much fun getting to know everyone and hanging out with all the kids. You all back there don't know what you are missing. We arrived safe and sound at UCYC yesterday around 6PM. We got our suitcases and headed off to our cabins. After checking in we had dinner and our first chapel time. We are beginning to learn about Jesus and that he was a real person! Some of the comments we have heard so far are amazing. The kids spent lots of time today digging through thier Bibles to find descriptions of Jesus. It has been great to see thier gears beginning to turn. The rest of the day we spent doing our rotations which consist of all types of exciting things!! It has been warm but, very nice. The evening are cool HOORAY! Here are a few pics for you all to see.

Our grand total for children and counselors attending UCYC this year from Parkway is.....drumrolll....145 people!!

I am going to do my best to blog everyday...but we are having so much fun that computer time is limited. Just know that all and I mean all of your kids are doing great!!

Happy 4th of July weekend!

Hey Parkway peeps dont forget the Barbeque 4th of July at the church. Parkway is providing the hamburgers, waterslides and bouncies for the kids. It will be fun for all! Be there or be square!

Just a couple more days...

Hopefully everyone is getting ready to go. Do you have your packing done already? I have heard that some of you have been packed all week. That is awesome! Here are some reminders. Pack your toiletries including your toothbrush you will be using it! Don't forget sunscreen and chap stick..you can't borrow mine ;) Be sure you let your parents know how happy you are they let you go to camp this year and that when you get back you will do all your chores and even some of your brother and sisters HA!

Don't forget your Superhero outfit for Wednesday. I have seen some crazy ones already and have heard of some that I can't wait to see. Be creative..remember this is not something you have go buy...create something at home. Use anything you can find around the house and have fun with it!
